LIVING NOURISHED
This week, I was talking to a friend saying I felt like a ping pong ball. Bouncing from one family member’s needs to the next, all while juggling work, the household, and so much more. It’s astounding how much our mind and body can bounce around in a single day, tending to all the things that require our attention.
You may be familiar with your own version of this routine. You wake up and feel like the day has already left you behind, running on E, barely getting a moment to figure out what you need; let alone actually obtaining it, then crashing into bed at night promising yourself you’ll “catch up and maybe catch your breath tomorrow”.
The same way, it feels effortless to get dressed when we’re at our goal weight and easy to put on makeup when our skin is clear; we can also align our inner world to feel more at peace, in joy, and full of abundance. In fact, I’d go as far as saying working on the inside will bring those outer benefits you may find yourself trying to grasp. Fitting into your favorite pair of jeans, glowing with radiant skin, banishing bloated bellies, and having a peaceful presence is more an inside job than an outside one.
Stemming from decades ago, the world of nutrition has been webbed with calorie restrictions, macro counting, and weighing food in hopes of reaching some sort of result. The newest research and findings have proven our state of stress actually determines our body’s response to our environment. This is why, a woman who is already feeling stressed and desperately wants to lose weight can add intense workouts, cut calories, and gain more weight or not see an ounce of progress, leaving her defeated. Our body responds to our interpretation of our environment. While we often cannot change the environment; we can certainly change how we respond to it with the right tools.
These are the tools I personally embody and introduce to my clients so they can reach their results in a sustainable way:
1. Nourish your body by focusing on blood sugar balance. My clients never count a single calorie or macro and they reach their results while being able to eat out, enjoy cocktails, go on vacation, and face the busiest seasons. We focus on blood sugar balance to nourish the hormones and optimize the metabolism.
2. Figure out food sensitivities with groundbreaking testing. One of the first panels I run on a client is my food sensitivity protocol to identify which foods are causing excess inflammation in the body. When there is excess inflammation, the body spends so much energy managing the inflammation daily, it can’t prioritize metabolism, hormone balance, and energy. By identifying and removing the biggest inflammation triggers, personalized to each client, the body can get back into alignment and the results show up.
3. Supplement. Even the cleanest and most abundant diets can be lacking in some of the most important vitamins and minerals. I walk each of my clients through supplement education so they have the knowledge to understand what their body needs.
4. Prioritize sleep and learn to rest. This was a big pillar for me personally. So many clients are functioning in a heightened nervous system response which cues the body to store fat, maintain high inflammation, and stay on an unwell cycle. Tapping into daily habits like journaling, meditation, breathwork, and more will help the nervous system settle so that the body can shift to a well cycle.
5. Tune in. Our body is incredibly smart and sends signals thousands of times each day alerting us of its needs. It’s our job to tune in. I absolutely love helping clients decode the symptoms and shift into alignment.
6. Love yourself. It’s not just a trend, there is science behind positive thoughts and body acceptance. This is where I personally love having the Embodiment Deck to draw a card and remind myself how incredible my body is.
